Large Jesus, small me
During this week, I took some "R and R" and went to Corpus Christi, with my mom. One of the things that I was told about was a sculpture nicknamed "Surfing Jesus"....the sculpture was one of Jesus calming the seas and saying "It is I". It was a show of the power of Jesus to overcome things....I decided to cross the street and get a close-up of the Jesus part of the statue....
And then it hit me, while I was looking at a large sculpture of Jesus and seeing my small stature in comparison to it...I was thinking....when was the last time that Jesus was this big? He told us to come as a little child to Him and the thing with a little child is how big things appear to them and that if they knew that if stood close to someone who could give them comfort and strength, they could overcome whatever came at them.
When was the last time we came as a little child to Jesus to ask for His help in overcoming things? Is is during a major crisis like going through appendicitis/peritonitis? Or is it for seeking help with problems that most people consider "everyday" worries? He says to us "Take heart, it is I, have no fear"....and we are also reminded in Hebrews 13:8 that He is the same yesterday, today and forever....If He is able to handle things like appendicitis/peritonitis (in my case),or a hurricane, etc...then why don't we come to him with the little things and know that with His strength and comfort, there is nothing that comes our way that He can't handle....
Let us take the view...."Large Jesus, small me"
