Sorry about being away for so long, there's no one else to blame but myself...If you've read the "Fat Man" posts, then you get where I'm coming from....
At times I read some of the older posts and it hits me..."Don't you realized how blessed you really are?"....Just think...let's start with a basic, life....Four years ago, there was a day or two where it was undetermined whether or not I was going to have a life, that I was thisclose to seeing the Lord, but He allowed me to live and to keep living. What would I have missed by not living...well first off, it would have missed seeing the birth of my grand-niece Kayla, and her brother Jacob....who are more precious each time I see them....
I would have missed out on enjoying the accomplishment of seeing my sister graduate culinary school at The Art Institute of Washington...missed out on seeing the growing into manhood of my nephew Steven....
Then I would have had ended the friendships that I have grown at Congregation Beth Simcha, the reestablishing of old friendships from my early Christian walk through Facebook...and there are so many other things that I would be missing, including this blog.....
But to bring it back to the title of this post...What do we do about blessings? What do we do about the gifts that God has chosen to give to us? Do we hide them under a bushel? Of course not! How do people learn about the goodness of God, if we keep hidden the blessings that He has given to us? How do people even come to the Lord, if we hide blessings? The best thing to do is to share them with others..This is how people come to know the Lord, when they see how good He has been to us..how kind and merciful he has been...and it not only helps non-believers come to know the Lord, but it reminds us who are believers of the love that He has for us...I keep saying that my favorite song at Pesach (Passover) is "Dayenu" (it would have been enough)...It would have been enough if Jesus had given His life on the execution stake to pay for our sins for all time, but He went beyond that...He has given us things not to hoard and keep for ourselves, but to bless others with. When we share our blessings with others, it is like we are doubling the talents (if you remember the parable, you'll understand the analogy) that the Lord has given to us...He gives us the talents (blessings) and wants us to increase them and bless ourselves, but most importantly others so that His kingdom will be increased....
That is what we do with blessings...and if you have been blessed...share it with others and see how it makes you....
